This project involved designing and building a custom internal e-commerce platform to simplify a complex IT procurement process. The primary challenge was to create a single, efficient system for employees to request products, for managers to approve purchases, and for IT and Finance teams to oversee operations. The goal was to replace manual processes with a streamlined, transparent, and automated solution.
An Intuitive Requesting Experience for Employees
The platform provides a familiar e-commerce interface where users can easily browse and select IT products. The design focuses on a simple, guided request process and a personal dashboard where employees can track the real-time status of their requests from submission to fulfillment. This transparency eliminates confusion and reduces the need for manual follow-up emails and calls.
Intelligent Approval Workflows and Dashboards
The system’s core is its intelligent, role-based approval logic. Small requests (e.g., under $500) are automatically approved for efficiency, while larger purchases trigger a multi-level approval workflow based on budget tiers. Dedicated dashboards provide Finance and IT teams with tailored views for budget oversight, spend analysis, and streamlined purchasing management.
